Getting The ' Gate '.

Recommended Posts

Ive been in some cleverly ' worded ' times/situations, but never in a real ' scrap ' while wearing nicer clothes/heels. This isnt really a heels story as I was wearing EMU boots but I was dressed in skinny jeans and a long tailed shirt. Today, I was at a Hockey Game. The ' away ' team is from Canada and being close to the boarder, their fans come to the games here. Well.. Some will take this as an ' insult ' and some as an ' honor '.. They were ' French '. Having season tickets for quite a while, Ive come to know the Usher for our section and the people whom work there. Needless to say, when one of the ' french ' started hurling insults in french at the Usher, I really didnt care for the comments. When I asked them to *please* find their manors as some of us are trying to enjoy the game, I was buried in quite a mouthful of comments of ' fu** english pigs ' and he ended with the term ' Madam '. I must say the new RBK Jerseys they sell to the crowd are made well! They are just as good as the CCM types I wore when I played youth hockey. They dont tear apart when you start with the ' jersey jabs '. I dont think he was expecting a guy in the clothes/shoes I was wearing to be able to scrap let alone being a southpaw. Everything was broken up before the haymakers/bombs could get started. Got a few good jersey jabs in while he tried to turtle. 2-5-10/game/gate for me and my friend. To the boarder for the other guy and his ' pack '. I like the folks from Toronto. Their great fans and always fun at the games. Leafs fans are diehards but they never start trash like the people from Montreal. The ones from Quebec though.. unbearable. They refuse to speak english, throw things all over the place, loud and obnoxious, constantly insulting everyone that doesnt speak french.. I need to clean out all the pepsi/popcorn/melted nacho cheese from my shirt as it was thrown at me ( by the other frenchies ) while the other guy turtled.

REPEATEDLY ARGUMENTATIVE, INSULTING AND RUDE. BANNED FOR LIFE.

He was a BIG guy ( I would say at least 6foot and 200ish lbs ). Not as big as the guy whom I was at the game with ( 6'5"ish/280lbs ). I used to go to the Buffalo Bills games but the drunks and idiots made it a scene I wanted nothing to do with. I was there to watch games, not wear someone elses food and have them spill beer all over me from the seats behind us. Its starting to get that way at the Hockey games. Crowds are becoming more and more unpleasant or discourteous.

Those of us in Canada do not consider the French from Quebec to be Canadians. After all, they want their own country. Ever since they were defeated on the Plains of Abraham all those years ago, they feel the English owe them something and even today expect Ottawa to continue financing them as we do now, even when they leave Canada. When travelling in Quebec, I have not been served meals in restaurants because I did not speak French. I often ask if they accept Canadian money. If you can't read French, don't go to Quebec. Signage is by law in French everywhere. As for the hockey, yes the prim and proper Toronto fans are generally good sports. As for me, I cheer for 2 teams. I cheer for the Maple Leafs and I cheer for who ever is playing Ottawa. (You guys in NY, substitute Rangers, Bruins, Devils, Sabres, and/or Islanders here) A couple of years ago, there was a HHP member who went to Leaf games in heels. Great stories. Sorry, there isn't much about heels here but if these guys were insulting you because of your attire, they must have a field day in Montreal. Go Leafs Go!

Even over here the word has been about a long time that if you do Quebec speak French. I did here a tale that some true Frenchies went over and had just as much hassle from the locals because the dialects were so diverse. rumoured that a big diplomatic row kicked up as it was a town mayor - pulled some strings all the way to Paris that then went further.
