Default False nails for fingers and toes

Has anybody here used false nails on their fingers and toes?
I noticed some today whilst shopping and was going to give them a try out with some peep toe heels.

It says on the box you simply glue them on and go. Can they be painted?

Any advice or comments?

my only experience with false (glue-on) nails was an unprecedented disaster. the glue wouldn't hold the nails onto my non-feminine-dimensioned natural nails, so i resorted to superglue. then i couldn't remove them the next day and i spent the weekend PANICKED, as i was in the military and couldn't show up monday with 1.5" long red nails.

fortunately i discovered acetone.

now then, acrylic nails have been a whole 'nother story! i've worn them off and on for about 8 years, and only remove them when necessity requires.

they are great fun, and look great. however, they may be more PERMANENT than you are ready for.

I've done false toenails before courtest of my gf. It's somewhat tricky to cut them to size since guy's nail beds tend to be a little bigger. They did look very nice and you could paint them if you wanted to. The only problem I had with mine is with my work, I have to wear closed toe shoes and am on my feet all day. As a result, some of the nails kept popping off.

A friend of mine had got them done at a salon once and said they looked lovely and lasted for a while.

I would definately do them again, but not something I could do every day.

Wow, what a fun experience I've had.

1 x Pkt of False Nails + 1 x bottle of red nail varnish = not bad first attempt.

Great with my patent heels and they came off with minimum inconvenience too!

Naturally, I have the most appalling nails ever, so I'm quite the fan of falsies.

Depending on the level of permanence needed, I'd recommend either the Cosmopolitan stick ons or Bio Sculpture gel overlays from a salon.

I get the Bio Sculpture which is literally just a gel nail polish which is set by uv lamps. Mine typically last 4 weeks before I need infills doing. Nails do tend to grow quicker with them, but you can paint over them with normal nail polish and strip it off with acetone free solvent.

For stick ons, the Cosmo ones, available from Superdrug, stayed on the longest and were the cheapest! Under £2 for a pack.

For re-sizing, I'd suggest filing them down to size rather than trying to cut them as I found they tend to snap.

I would recommend Bio Sculpture any day over acrylics. BS doesn't actually damage the natural nail at all because it quite literally lays over the natural nail. No filing needed.

Huge word of warning for anybody after acrylics and doesn't already know about it, don't go anywhere that uses drills. They're just wrong!
