there is an old rumour/myth (it might be true, who knows?) that the legs shown on packages of stockings/tights are actually mostly young men's legs, not women's due to the fact that guys usually have longer legs.

oh I would believe that. the most women having that slim legs tend to have too bony knees... and of course nice legs do not really depend on gender even if its recognizable. although, of course stockings make legs looking more perfect in *feminine way* anyway.
