My Mood: Rep Power: 3 | Super Glue This afternoon, while I was trying to re-glue the insole back into a pair of my boat shoes, an idea crossed my mind... what would it be like to super glue my heels on??
With locks, you can cut them off if you really can't make it to the key. With straps, you can simply unbuckle them... With super glue, you're kind of (wait for it) --------- stuck.
So... I took a pair of my Pleaser 6" pumps (that I don't normally wear because they often just fall off my feet) and applied a nice layer of super glue gel from the heel to about halfway down the arch (one shoe at a time). As I put each glue-laden shoe on and stood up to get good adhesion, the exothermic reaction (the heat generated from the glue bonding) made me realize that this is not going to be a 10 minute thing - not that I mind right now.
My wife just left for a week-long business trip... I can call in sick to work if I really need to.... why not?!?!?!
So here I am about 3 hours into my self-induced 'bond'-age and loving every minute of it.
I am in no way the best walker in heels, let alone 6" stilettos... but when forced to teeter, etc... I am getting better by the step.
Of course, I have absolutely NO guts, gumption, etc... to go out of the house - at least past the garbage can at the garage.
Am I the only one who ever did this??? Probably not, but hey - it could work.....
I'll let you know when I call it quits.
BTW - I made certain that I have a bottle of acetone to dissolve the glue if need be.

My Mood: Rep Power: 15 | Re: Super Glue I havnt gone so far as to try and glue some heels on. I suspect the acetone will ruin the shoes, so if you can hold out then wait till your skin dislodges itself from the heels on it's own.
Any updates at this point? How ya holding out? |

My Mood: Rep Power: 6 | Re: Super Glue I used to do this all the time, buts used more lue, especially in the toes area. I used to find taht sweat was a good dislodger of glue and that your feet 'should' pull out with some glue still attatched without too much effort. The other thing I used to do was (because I had a room with no carpet) glue the shoes to the floor too.
Your feet will always tend to have thicker skin than other parts of your body and I wouldnt expect (have never had it hapen to me) taht your skin will peel when you remove them.
The first time you do it the insoles of the shoes will come away stuck to your feet.
The better way is to remove the insoles and then glue them on.
Just my 2p worth.

My Mood: Rep Power: 11 | Re: Super Glue In fantasies- all right, but in reality- never ever. Chemicals found in glue are toxic and may damage your skin. Also, when you try to remove a shoe/ boot mechanically, you may damage your skin and it will be VERY painful... It's just unhealthy and too risky for me!

My Mood: Rep Power: 2 | Re: Super Glue super glue as it is sold is nothing more than Cyanoacrylate and not toxic if not swallowed... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanoacrylate
very interesting is the part "medicine"
so... I wouldn't go so far to glue heels on... but the idea is intriguing
and I have a pair of plateau pumps I could sacrifice they have a 1" plateau and a 6" heel making it overall a 5" pump with a much smaller base as the plateau is a bit conical towards the floor... as I said the idea is intriguing.... |

My Mood: Rep Power: 6 | Re: Super Glue Actually, super glue (known generically as cyanoacrylate glue) is not toxic to your skin. Doctors often use the equivalent during surgery to close sutures rather than making stitches, according to my wife the veterinarian. Even human doctors are using it since it's fast, leaves fewer scars, and is more practical than making hand sewn stitches. It does irritate your nose, and you wouldn't want to swallow it, but skin contact is safe, so long as you know what you're trying to do. Now I'm sure the stuff they use in hospitals probably has stricter quality control on it and didn't come from the checkout lane at Wal-Mart, but it really is the same stuff we know as Super Glue or Krazy Glue. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 6 | Re: Super Glue Thanks HHAddicted, I guess you beat me to it while I was typing. I stand corrected, the FDA-approved medical grade stuff isn't exactly the same formula, but the generic stuff is still safe. My wife has used the generic stuff on cats and dogs, and even herself when she cut her finger once. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 2 | Re: Super Glue In fantasy, gluing my self to my heels is something I always wanted to try. But it is too much of a chance that my heels would be messed up or a reaction with my feet might happen. I hear sweat would dissolve it in time, but that doesn't really sound like being stuck. The glue would need to be strong enough for it to only come undone with a solution, but for that level of being stuck it much more likely to do long term damage. |

That is such a great idea though, I have several pairs of sandals that are painful because my foot slips forward and the straps dig...
