Default Important question

Why do people on this forum appear to be drags rather than trying to pass and actualy be "normal".

I mean, why go to extremes? Isn't the aim of dressing up en femme trying to be comfortable in an untolerent society ?

I mean, it can be apropriate for carnival but why advertise yourself as "a drag" rather than "a woman" ?

It could be something like, ah, personal choice. :P

Some people just have the wrong body structure to pass as a woman; I'd include myself in that group. So if you can't be totally convincing as a woman, why not go to extremes?

Besides, there are plenty of places where the natives aren't hostile. :)

Edit... I see you're a Londoner. I wouldn't consider London a particularly harsh environment, at least central London. I've walked from Upper Ground to the Honor store on Lower Marsh wearing tight girl jeans, stiletto heel boots and a white lace bustier under an unzipped leather biker jacket and didn't raise nary a glance. I tended to go for an androgynous look most of the time as I felt being too feminine didn't look good on me at the time.

Well said, geo_t

I prefer to (try to) pass as a girl, but it is down to personal preference. In places like London you regularly see all manner of interesting attire on men and women alike.

I've seen quite a few photos on this thread of guys who look very convincing, as well as those who prefer a more theatrical look.

Each to his own.

My Partner cross-dresses and likes the sophisticated, suit-jacket and little black skirt look best. He leaves "tarty" me to because he's not a girl - and he simply hasn't got the shape to carry it off.

Some can pass, and others can't. Lou Ferigno, for example...

All of the comments are quite true its very hard for most men to completly pass as a woman myself included, god didnt give us the correct shape. Though i do try very hard & my wife says i look better as a woman than i do as a man(not really sure if thats a complement) but you have to do the best with what you have and dont kid yourself that your the new kate moss.

I'd like to expand on this. In years past I could pass, and on rare occasion, usually at the bequest of my wife who loved to screw with the minds of other guys, I did.

These days I can't, not without a lot of work, so I choose to wear whatever articles of clothing I think look good on me for the way I am as I am today, regardless of their originally intended sex.

For example, I wear both skirts and heels, though not usually in combination. I enjoy women's bracelets, but only if they look appropriately masculine on my wrist. I don't try to pass, don't do makeup, nor am I out to GF anyone.

I just enjoy non-stereotypical clothing.
