Starting out

For the first time in my life I have been able to start building up a collection of clothes and stuff. The first things I bought were a pair of heeled boots and a wig. But Im not satisfied with any of these purchases. Can anyone give me advice for buying this kind of thing.

I feel that there is not enough information here. What exactly are you looking for? What is the look that you are trying to create? Are there potential problems for either shopping or dressing up in the area that you live? Are you ok with going outside dressed up or do you prefer to remain indoors?

Oh, sorry. Let me explain. I bought a wig without trying it on, but thought it would look great. Now I'm not so sure, I think that it's way too long. I have never had long hair before so have no idea if this is just because of me. The shoes I bought were actually okey, but I would like advice on how to buy shoes on the web, since that would make me more comfortable. I hope that helps to explain more. Sorry

Let me explain even more.

I've planed what I want to buy, as in makeup, clothes and so on, but what are the things that anyone dressing up should buy first? I guess any random thoughts would be appreciated.

For me, it starts with some cheap tights or pantyhose. Then I can wear then under my jeans when I go shopping for shoes. Once I have a pair of shoes, shopping for clothes is a bit easier.
Roughly speaking, underwear is easier to start with, since you cannot try it on in the shop anyway. I've found that wearing the right underwear helps give me confidence to wear the right outerwear.

I rarely order online or via mail order. I find it much more satisfying to go out and try stuff on. In particular, I cannot help you with shoes. I've occasionally got a dress or skirt via mail order, but only a couple of dresses were really good buys.

I don't wear wigs, since I have long hair to begin with. For fingernails, I prefer to get them done at a local salon. Any nail polish I own is just cheap stuff you can pick up at a drug store or chemist. I don't wear makeup much. If I ever get serious about makeup, I'd probably get some one to do it for me, since my attempts tend to be disasterous.

I do windowshop for shoes online. I don't have any particularly solid recommendations since I've never bought from any, but my favourite shops to look at are:

As far as I know, they are all good shops to buy from. Italian heels has a little sheet that you can download which allows you to determine what size you are.

For shoes, it's probably a good idea to look at some of the more highly rated shops listed in the 'shops' section on this site. I've bought heels from a few places, I think the only problem I had was with heelsonline.com (I think that's what it was called). They delayed and then sent me the shoes in the wrong material. It wasn't shiny! The best time was from Best Heels. There was a mixup in my order, but this guy Dave actually called me and straightened it all out. Real nice. Kinda spooked me since I live with my parents and they don't know, but nice customer service for sure.

I've bought stockings from www.sub-shop.com since they seem to be fairly inexpensive. Probably not the top quality but at the time I didn't care. There's mostly bondage type stuff there, though.

BTW, for stockings I found that a nice garter belt helped a lot. Even the ones with the tacky band at the top would slide down on me. Maybe I'm just that skinny.

I bought pantyhose today, it was so easy, I don't know why I didn't do it more often. Though there was a huge dude that looked at me funny and I felt very embaressed.

Do you find that if you order online that the shoe size works out, or is it a case of hope for the best? I havn't bought on-line yet.
