Rep Power: 8 | Look fellows, women can cross dress because women are silly, stupid, ineffectual beings (ok, they may have some reproductive value). There is even some question about them being human. Now we men are of cosmic importance, the world revolves around us. For us to dress like women would throw all of creation into an uproar. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 7 | I still find it amazing how many of the post here seem to want to justify the double standard of accepting women as crossdressers we all know that they do. Yet are more than willing to apply the description to them selves. As a derogertory term, women just say thank you -'looks good' got your attention.
For those who are trying to wiggle out from under 'according to the current definition' of crossdresser implied in this thread. Anytime you wear anything from the 'girl' box you are 'crossdressing' and that includes 'just a pair of heeled boots' with jeans. Sorry can not let you have that one.
Face it, and consign the term to the scrap heap and get on with life and enjoy all the clothes and 'stop' giving away boxes. You might be surprised what you find inside if you looked your self. Could be your giving away allot of good stuff, 'cause you never bothered to look for your self.

Rep Power: 26 | Well, I suppose I spent a long time wondering about what I was before realising that I'm another person who likes wearing heels.
I guess if I'm a cross-dresser, it's only because I haven't found any shoes over on the "men's shelves" with high enough heels. When that happens, I'll be "normal".
Roll on the day .

Rep Power: 0 | Well put Bob. I wear boots with nylons, and skirts occasionally, but it's for the comfort, and I personally like the look. Crossdresser seems too much like a label for those seeking to look like a woman. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 7 | OK a question for the followers of this thread.
Those who have posted on this thread have all said that 3.5" heels are not cross dressing.
I'm were a navy Utilikilt ( www.utilikilt.com) - mens garment from the mens side of the store - red sweatshirt, nude support hose and 3.5" black pumps.
-- Question ?
Am I crossdressing?

My Mood: Rep Power: 19 | Crossdressing is about trying to experience the female gender role, it has nothing to do with clothes. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 45 | I think people define the term in different ways, but I tend to side with Trolldeg's definition, and therefore would say I don't crosdress by wearing heels.
It's interestng when women wear men's business suits, shirts, and shoulder pads, that is described as "power dressing" and something to be encouraged while the term "cross dressing" has a negative connotation.
I think we need a new term to describe our activities. "Cross dressing" is to well worn, negative, and vague. How about "Expression dressing" for the activities of the majority of guys on this board who wear new wave accessories. More of this in another thread. |

Rep Power: 10 | Taken literaly, I would say crossdressing means just that, dressing in clothes that "belongs" to the other sex.
In Dutch a person wanting to experience the other gender role (throught dressing, make-up etc.) would be called a tansvestite. There's no specific Dutch word for crossdressing afaik.
Is there in English a difference between a crossdresser and transvestite?
