Default Reducing jpeg size

I am trying to post some photos but they are far too big and exceed the forum limit, how do I go about reducing the size of the file?
Please remember I am a total luddite when it comes to computers!

I usually use Microsoft Photo Editor but that's a good site.

If you're running Windows XP then get the Powertoys resizer from the Microsoft website.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...schelman2.mspx

Simple and effective.

Try this program:

QuickEdit Thingy

This was originally written by me. The CEO of NymTec is a good friend of mine, and now continues the support for it.

In case you are using Linux, you can use the program display as in
display photo.jpeg
When you save the picture you can choose the format (like .jpg etc)
and the jpg quality. Often this is originally 95 or 98% and takes much space.
If you lower it to 70% you reduce the amount of space by a good factor.
You can experiment a bit till you get the result you like.
