Default Overlapping forums

I am puzzled by the apparent overlap between these two separate forums on this board: General Non Shoe Fashion Discussion and General Fashion.

Is it not the intention that the first should deal with non-shoe, non-fashion subjects (in which case it should be re-titled accordingly, e.g. as General Non-fashion Discussion)? That leaves the second to deal with non-shoe fashion in general.

I raise this because there are very similar current threads on both dealing with ankle chains (which should be merged) and other fashion subjects are being addressed in the first forum. May I suggest that all these really belong in the second forum?

Hi, The forum should be.

General Non Shoe/Fashion Discussion

This is the place for general chat as in the discription underneath it.

Will get around to changing it some day.

Thanks for pointing it out, but please read the discriptions as well.

Nigel.

Thank you, gents - I am glad you agree! I had indeed read the descriptions and that is why I was puzzled by the crossovers in postings. However, may I suggest that General Non Shoe/Fashion Discussion is ambiguous and might still be interpreted as being for discussion of fashion apart from shoes. But changing the title to General Non-Shoe, Non-Fashion Discussion would put the parameters beyond doubt.

To be perfectly honest, it looks to me like we should merge the 2 forums together and have it as a "General non-shoe related, fashion forum" then everything else can go into the chit chat cafe.

That way there can be NO confusion...

Lets see who else agree's with this by posting a message of yah or nay here and if everybody agree's then we'll do it.

Sorry you have me to thank for the original confusing titles! One should be General (Non shoe-related) Discussion. The other should be Fashion (Apparel) Discussion.

I think those titles are clearer. Obviously, there should be a GD froum for news and views etc, but the other one was prompted by user requests for somewhere to specifically to discuss clothes. If you get rid of it or merge them, you'll likely get requests asking why there isn't a forum to discuss clothes because they like going on about what jeans they wear etc etc.

One of the problems of boards is that some people want more forums, and some want less. Can't please everyone

Hi Firefox

What I proposed was to merge the 2 forums together into a "Non-shoe related - fashion discussion" forum so that everybody has somewhere to chat about all the fashion stuff that isnt shoe related, then move all the other stuff that not shoe or fashion related, ie the thread on scotch, guns etc, into the chit chat forum.

Otherwise we have 2 forums for general non shoe, non fashion related stuff?

I dont think I explained it very well in my last post...

If, as both Richie and Firefox are apparently saying, we need two forums (a) for clothing other than footwear; (b) for any other general subject not separately specified, then Richie's suggestion appears to be the answer (i.e. two forums rather than the present three overlapping ones). However, the titles/descriptions do need to be carefully selected if to be sufficiently explicit (and to get the punctuation correct and avoid unnecessary capitals).

I therefore suggest:

(a) Clothing (non-shoe-related) discussion - with a description such as ‘Clothing and personal fashion discussion not related to shoes. It could be freestyling, unisex, new wave or just general male or female fashion thoughts.’

(b) HHPlace Café! - General chit chatwith a description such asJust to prove that we are interested in things apart from heels, you can discuss other items of interest here. That could be world news, TV shows, the weather or anything else you feel like talking about. Or use the Café if you just want to make a point, ask for help, share a problem or change the world. (Posting guidelines apply.)’

That would probably work. Essentially the old rant forum is becoming the GD forum as well. I don't think you would have many objections to that.
