Default [Query] Automated response?

new posters to the forum often have to wait for someone to say hello and welcome. Rather than have lots of members haphazardly giving a welcome, could we not have the board, or a moderator, welcome new members?
Also, in a similar vein, rather than dozens of " me too" replies, include a rate this post box, a little like a poll. If this were the the case, each thread would would generally be shorter, yet more interesting. The author would still get the feedback.

Hi Lorriette

When new members join up (At the moment) they not only receive their normal email with their login details but they also receive a welcome email, which has been put together by the team here.

This has only recently been put in place in the last few weeks.

This not only welcomes them, but also points out where the rules are, and several other things that they may not realise if nobody told them.

Sadly, the team that keep the website running cant be online 24/7 to welcome every new member and personally speaking, I think any member should feel free to welcome a new member.

Although the "Me too" posts are a waste of time as they couldnt be any less sincere if they tried, almost not worth posting it really....

As for thread ratings.................
See the top right corner of every thread where it says "Rate this thread"
Click on it and a thread rating box should open allowing you to rate the thread.

This then gives the ratings of up to 5 stars next to each thread when browsing each forum.

Regards
Richie
