Default [Query] Members being thanked by non-poster

There is a member here that is thanking others but has never posted anything themselves. Now, this maybe quite genuine, but is activity like this monitored? I mean, you don't want people joining this board just to play "silly buggers".

why are you questioning it...thanking someone doesnt change the persons status...just the persons status that they are thanking..

And, as stated in the forum instructions I wrote, I think I did put the reason for having this thanks button which is so that we dont end up with a forum full of only a handfull of quality post's and thousands of those annoying "thanks for that" replies.

I know I find it annoying trying to read things, and the replies to some very interesting threads, only to find 20 people have all dived in to increase their post count offering nothing more than a "thanks" and in some extremes, even less than that!

Its not how often somebody posts that matters but the quality of their efforts that is appreciated.

Have a look at this thread:

My Last Purchases On Ebay

When you check the profile of wharty, they have thanked over 300 times. It just seemed odd behaviour.

I honestly wouldnt worry about it, I intend to clean out non active members on a regular basis anyway so if they never ever make any posts, it wont be too long before they are deleted.

Maybe once every 3 months I will be cleaning out members who either havent logged in or have never posted anything

But this will only apply to members with zero (0) posts.

why are you worrying about it...

thanking someone doesnt do anything for the persons "place" in this community....doesnt do anything for their rank....doesnt do anything to anyone...

a bit like ... reporting someone to the police for walking past your house or for someone in the street complimenting you on your clothes...

come on lindsay lighten up

doesnt harm anyone...its all good....
