Default [Request] Website changes Question / Proposal

Dear All....

I know there has been some uproar over the move of this forum so I wanted to put an idea to you all and get your opinions....

The transfer of the hhplace.org domain name is almost completed now so what I was thinking is that I change the website name back to hhplace.org

I would still like to keep the website format "as is" if thats ok....

Still keep the shoereview section, links, gallery, articles, surveys etc but change the name, change the domain name back to hhplace.org, adjust the colour scheme and logo maybe and just generally adjust the focus of the website to become the High Heel Community again instead of just "guys in heels"

What do you all think about that??

I Look forward to your thoughts...

I am all for it!

I like the idea of High Heels in General, Rather then just for men.

The original board was all about high heels in general. If you were interested in a specific aspect of high heels, forums were provided for discussions on those aspects. Those forums have been preserved.

I fear the "heels4men" site name might put off those who posted on the old board in areas other than the "For the Guys" forum because their primary interest was not men wearing heels.

Just my analytical way of saying I think going back to "hhplace.org" is a good idea and why.

I agree with jmc. This forum really is dedicated to "all" that wear or are interested in high heels, not just men. Returning to the original hhplace.org will preserve that concept and just might be more inviting to females interested in the subject.

Why not just put the board on the old hhplace.org name as opposed to using the name for your whole site?
It was only in a frame before, so you could do the same again?

Hi Shyguy

I am now at the final stage of the domain name transfer and based on initial reactions/response's will be glad and happy to revert back to the hhplace.org name.

I will definately NOT be using frames anywhere on the hhplace.org website as I am aiming at a search engine friendly website and have a few more extra modifications to get up and running for the forum moderators to make life for them a lot easier around here.

I am intending to dump the heels4men.org name and concentrate on hhplace.org as the name and "The high heel community" as the focus if everybody approves of that?

what about keeping the other sections of the website like articles, showreviews, links, surveys etc...

So, the old name WILL be reverted back and the entire website focus will be adjusted accordingly...

How does that sound?

Going back to the old name and adjusting the focus sounds good to me. I see nothing wrong with keeping the other sections of the website though.

That sounds OK, but I feel you are doing your own site a disservice in the process, some people would still like a heels4men site with the focus on heels for men becoming more mainstream. While others liked the old board for the fact it catered for all HH enthusiasts of all genders.
As your site was up and running as Heels4Men.org and you have graciously given over your time, expertise and resources to us all, I feel your own efforts shouldn't be lost in it all.
I also realise how much there is to gain in search engine traffic from HHplace, and it concerns me a little how you will use that for yourself afterwards.

BTW the shoe reviews are a good idea, how about company reviews too so people can comment on the service they get from suppliers, or is that too much of a legal minefield in this day and age of lawsuits?

Damn it all, I sound so negative, but I do realise we all owe you a big THANK YOU for giving us a place to come to discuss our heels, and meet like minded people. I do appreciate how much haed work goes into a site like this, as I run several sites, so thank you again.

Some people like? Nobody has said anything so far, although I havent really asked...
what about having the 2 websites seperate, each with their own forums?

I really hope your not going to go down the same road Xaphod did here with this and lean towards some accusation of me trying to make money from running the website?

If not, then I have no idea how I would use the traffic for myself?

I will never post links to my own company website and the small adverts at the bottom of the page will hopefully cover the cost of software licences needed to run the new forum and all of its associated software.

I took on this website for the same reason Jeff ran it. Nothing more, nothing less.

I am however trying to apply a little business brains to it so that it can afford to run itself without relying on just 1 sponsor (hence the google ad's)

This removes the "single point of failure" for the website finance's

The shoe review section can be used as you see fit, your giving a review of both the footwear and the buying experience so if you got fantastic footwear from a company that were useless at delivering it then by all means say so but just dont say anything that isnt true and you cant backup.

Thanks for your thanks... I very much appreciate it...
Despite your concerns, I do appreciate your taking the time to air them and giving me the opportunity to publish my intentions further.

I can be somewhat annoying though because I like to get things done "REALLY QUICKLY" and hate waiting ages for replies, or for others to act on things I want done but I hope this will be a benefit to all here that may need help as I do have a habit of reacting rather fast.:D

Thanks again
Rich
