This site has been in use for quite some time and there is a wealth of information here -- if new members hop and skip from one search to the next, they will miss a great deal of the content. Allowing new members to search gives them the 35,000-foot view of the site, while actually exploring the forums and threads is like strolling the streets and alleys -- you see and notice so much more!

Rep Power: 0 | Re: [Problem] Where's search tools ? Sometimes, people first come to/stumble upon a forum because they they are doing research, looking for something specific. Fortunately, Google indexes hhplace. Just put the site:hhplace.org operator in the Google search box along with your other search terms, to restrict the results to the posts here. (Hopefully, the mods/admins will not as a result of this post decide to add code to the pages of hhplace that requests web crawlers and search engines to not to search and cache a site?) |

Google is almost omnipresent and it provides a great many tools to help people find what they want on the Web. I daresay a great many members find their way here via Google or other search-engines. I did -- only I used Webcrawler (Google wasn't so big back then).
In my role as a staff member all I ask is that HHplace members (all members really but new ones especially) take some time to "stop and smell the roses", figuratively speaking. There is so much here and browsing the site is the only way to get the feeling for the place.

Using the link you provided will show you that we now have 26,000 pages (Supposedly) in google with more being added all the time.
The website is now also listed really high in google for the search term "High heels" and other relevant terms, all of which help new members find us
This does of course seriously drain the bandwidth that I provide, but hopefully keeping the ad's running goes a little way towards covering some of the bandwidth, but mostly the cost of setting up the new site and keeping it licenced.
Anyway, enough dribble... back to the topic... |

My Mood: Rep Power: 6 | Search question (advanced search) This may be a silly one, but I can't figure out how to make it work. When doing an advanced search, how does one search for keywords that should appear together (i.e. "keyword1" AND "keyword2" should be in the title)? Many other forums have the ability to look for keywords using AND or OR criteria, but it seems that this defaults to OR, so if one of the keywords happens to be "heels"... Well, it returns about 65 pages of results that could be narrowed down. Some forums use "+" to indicate AND, but I've tried "AND" and "+" and got the same results. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 4 | Re: Search question (advanced search) Are the words consecutive? For example, Pleaser Allure? If so, you can do what you can do in Google and put inverted comas around it, eg "Pleaser Allure". It will then treat the 2 words as one instead of finding all posts with Pleaser and all posts with Allure in.
If the words aren't consecutive, though, I'm not sure. |
