Java irc chat client

i propose that hhplace get a java irc chat engine so that when there are a few of us online we can talk/discuss things quickly with fast answers this would be nice ;)

There is a chat room already set by Bubba136 on Jenny's site. You can link to it using the pulldown menu. However, this has come up before and keeps coming up. If people really want chat here we can have one, provided there aren't too many bandwidth implications. Jeff can asnwer that one as I don't know the load on the server.

yea i went on the jenny's site one and no one was there so i guess it doesnt work too well...

It does work OK, but I think it is busiest at weekends at 7.00pm eastern US time. I think you'd have the same problems with chat here. Although we have a large membership, there are typically max 5 or so people on at any one time, and out of those, probably only 1 wants to do chat if you are lucky.

Sure thing, but that's life on boards for you. It is somewhat slow motion, but you'll find that the quality of the response on boards is much better. For example, there are things about shoe construction that only Dr Shoe could answer well. While we have various other experts for computer issues, fashion, web links, wearing, male style, female style etc. However I agree if you just wanted a quick opinion or general chat then it could be frustrating if nobody is around.

Jenny's chat room works just fine. You've got to remain in it for awhile if you want to talk to someone. Besides, if you don't find to it to your liking, start your own and see if it's any better.
