Default Shoe size converter

I've had a look round the site & I can't see a shoe size converter! I have one in a table I got from the web. As a site all about shoes and people from all over the world. I think putting one on would be a good idea! Mind you I expect most people who are on this site could convert their size to about 20 different languages
:D

Secreto - a good idea!

However, the powers that be will need to construct a converter with a great deal of care, because although a number of international shoe suppliers publish their own charts on their websites, most of them vary considerably!

This is frustrating, but take my size for instance. My foot is around about a 9 1/2(UK). However, for starters the shoes that fit me perfectly in the UK actually include 8. 8 1/2, 9, 9 1/2 and 10 - five sizes! But the sizing is all according to the manufacturer and also to the retailer, as various chain stores size their shoes diffrently from each other.

The problem is compounded when converting one of these sizes to US and European sizes, let alone trying to convert all five UK sizes! For instance, although my feet are nominally European size 43, I find a 41 fits me perfectly in one brand, whereas another might fit me just as well although calling itself a 45! And the charts vary! One chart might say a 43 UK is an 11.5(US), whereas other charts will call it an 11 or a 12.

If Megaforums' moderators do decided to publish an official Megaforums' shoe size conversion chart, I think the best they could do would be to carefully research an publish a charge of AVERAGE conversion sizes, whilst pointing-out to the readers that it can only every be an approximate guide.

Cheerfully yours, Heelfan

Default Dictionary & Converter

I've been frustrated by the differing sizes too (especially UK to US conversions)! But I've found this link very helpful:
http://members.lycos.co.uk/stips500/...TableStips.htm
Is that any help?
Plus if you go back one level there's a really good dictionary.

That is quite interesting, click around and there is also a glossary page defining all the shoe construction terms - something we should post over on the Shoe Mods forum too.

Size conversions are all very well, but the manufacturers willingness to make shoes that follow any rational sizing system is what finally counts.
