Default Can't view replies

I am experiencing a viewing problem in this forum. I cannot see any replies being posted to one message thread.

Laurieheels created a new thread recently in the Marketplace under For Sale. It is titled This is what I would like to sell.

When I do a wildcard search, that thread indicates there are over 10 replies. But when I click on the thread, I only can see Laurieheels original message and no replies. I tried posting a reply yesterday but I can't see that either.

What is strange is that this is the only message that has this problem. I can see replies to all messages posted before and after this problem message. I also checked Laurie's last 5 message threads that she originated. I can see the replies for all of them except the This is what I would like to sell thread.

Laurie suggested I try clearing my cache and bypassing the search function, but neither helped.

Is anyone else having this problem with just this This is what I would like to sell thread ?

No problem viewing that thread at all. Make sure your link is exactly like this:

http://www.hhplace.org/hhboard/viewt...780&highlight=

This is the link that gets me there OK. If yours is different then you might have found a bug

What a strange problem PJ. Laurie did mention it and we have been putting our collective heads together

http://www.hhplace.org/hhboard/viewtopic.php?t=1780

Try Jo's suggestion and then try that one which is the same with the highlight command removed. If you still have problems after refresh and cache clear, try another isp if you have one (isps have caches too) and if still the same wait until it hits page 2 and then we will post a link for you.

I will look it up, and of course, postage will be expected on top of whatever the selling price is.

Hey, we all know how it is, PLUS shipping and handling.

Such charges are always huge when mail ordering plutonium. I mean, the handling charge on something like that is huge!

But I've said too much.

Postage... Canadian Postage would not be too bad, maybe five or six dollars inside of Canada.

American Postage, it would be no more than 15 dollars, I am thinking.

And For Europe, well, we may be looking at over 30.

All figures are estimated, based on Canada Post web site calculations, and they are in Canadian funds.

Expensive thing, to own a piece of the goddess, so to speak.

Not that I feel much like a Goddess these days, without a job to strut around at.

You can expect to pay about £20 on shipping by air. But there's no duty on used shoes, only new ones. Sometimes Parcel express or whoever in the UK try to charge you extra for local delivery.

Photos would be helpful of course. I'm certain there will be some interest/offers. You could have an ebay style auction with everyone posting their latest offers in the thread.

That is the plan!

But right now, there's no way to take any pictures. I was hoping posting an inventory would get people interested enough to ask questions and get me motivated to borrow a digital camera.

Of course, if I get a job AND the sales go well, Chris and I could buy our own digital camera...

Something strange is happening here. When I do a general search, it indicates this thread has 5 replies and 110 views. Yet the only message I see is Laurie's original post. Where are the other 4 replies (besides mine)?

I have no idea, I see everything just fine.

But then, I never search, I just go into the subjects direct like.

I was going to let people bid, each pair would have a subject to itself, and I would look at $15 U.S. to start, I guess. That may change. It would be a good price, anyway, after converting to Canadian funds, and of course, S&H extra!

It is always difficult to pick a price as a start price. Too high, no one bids. Too low, you miss out on what you could get.

True, I'm in the same boat at the moment selling my car. Price it too high (or even at what I think it's worth) and no one will want it. Set the price too low and I could shoot myself in the foot

You could always buy one of those espion digital dream matchbox digicams. I'm sure they must be available in Canada and you can get them for about £10 in the UK now. Not top notch quality but great for web shots.

Here's a selection of photos I took with it http://freespace.virgin.net/firey.fox/avi.htm

I think it works well for shoe pics too.

I've never heard of such a thing. All I could do is search for my web camera, and then the driver file CD, and use that. I'll discuss it with Chris. We may be busy the next few days.

It would be easier if a big bag of money fell from the sky and landed on our balcony.

Hi Laurieheels, Please include me in on the raffle for your sexy high heels!! I am glad you came to terms with other people wanting your shoes; you probably don't want to know what I have in mind. However, it's only done with complete respect for you and you are on a pedestool in my eyes. Chris is sooooo lucky to have you. I will watch and see how this bidding will proceed. Thanks, Bill

It's not a raffle. People will bid if they like, and the one who sends me money to back up that high bid wins!

Nice link Bubba. Cheaper than the one I found for that model.

http://www.expansys.us/product.asp?code=DIG002

These people above also do another espion digicam for $35 and I've seen them on ebay for only $15 or so 2nd hand - £10.00 like I was saying.

Oh well, sorry to be a bit off topic in the thread but I think you'd get back the money on the camera by selling more shoes for a better price, Laurie. I'm guessing here , but I think there would be a steady trade in your 2nd hand shoes. How nice to buy some stils for $40 and sell them for the same price worn a year later. Free shoes are what we all need!

That was dumb of me. Of course it's not a raffle. I get so distracted by the thought of you I just can't keep my attention straight. You fluster me to no end.

jo and Firefox;

Thank you both for responding.

When I click on the links you both posted, I can view the entire thread with all the replies !!!

And thanks Firefox for posting all the replies in one message for me.

However, no matter where I'm at or what I'm doing in the Forum, my address bar always indicates http://www.hhplace.org. So I can't verify if when I try my methods, the address I'm viewing matches the link that you both posted.

When you hover the mouse on a link you should see the full path of that link in the status bar at the bottom of your screen (IE 5/6) even if your address bar is the same.

oops, I forgot about the status bar displaying the URL.

Well with all the testing that I have been doing since I last cleared out my hard disk cache, the problem seems to have disappeared on it's own. Now it's working where I can see the replies no matter what method I use to reach Laurie's thread.

Thanks to Laurie, jo and Firefox for the help.

I see the full URL of every thread in the browser address bar. I have no idea why you do not.

What browser is it, or is it IE? I use Mozilla.

I use IE 5 for the record. Another way to get the full link is to right button click on the link, find the "properties" and then copy and paste the URL into your address line. Assuming your browser lets you do all that of course. IE does.

I am using Windows98 with Internet Explorer 5.0.

I agree with jo. No matter where I go in the HighHeel Meeting Place Forum, my address window always displays the URL for the home page. So if I click on REFRESH, instead of having the displayed page reload, I'm sent to the home page. This only happens at this site.

I tried visiting Jenny's site. There, my address window always displayed the URL for the displayed page. Everytime I visited a new page at Jenny's site, the address window changed accordingly. So if I click on REFRESH, the displayed page reloads instead of sending me to the home page. I tried other sites and got the same result. This is the proper way the browser should work.

Also, no matter where I'm at in the HighHeel Meeting Place Forum, if I move my cursor over any link on that page, the URL for that link does display in my STATUS BAR. At least this works correctly here.

Strange, isn't it ?
