At $1400 a pair they are a bit rich for me, but thanks for letting us know about you.

Hi Juliezzz

Sorry, just renamed the thread of yours to make it easier to fit with this forum of marketplace items.

Can i ask how you come to those prices that you sell these boots for?
I'm really intreged how somebody comes to the price of say $1500 for something that will cost less than $50 to make (In materials that is)

I'm not disputing the prices though, I'd just really love to know how you reach that exact figure or how does a designer calculate that a pair of boots needs to sell for such a high price?

Would love to know more

Thanks
Richie

Well for a start there's leather and there's leather. You can pay £2.50 per square foot up to £80... It all depends on how it's tanned and dressed. Then if they're hand made you can spend as long as 30 hours on a pair of boots.

These are not your £9.99 Shoefayre slip-ons.

you´re right, but even if u use expensive leathers (expcept python, etc.) the material for one pair of shoes is not higher than € 50.--

those fashion companies and in some cases shops are GREEDY. for me it is a big joke paying 1K for a pair of pumps. it makes no sense. it makes only sense for big companies so the average people have to finance their big promo machinery and in some cases only the upper class should wear the high-priced fashion shoes.

have you seen the prices for a ysl tribute shoe in the 6inch version ? 1.5k !!!
the heel is a standard heel used on many shoes before, nice upper and platform. So where is the sense to pay so much for this shoe ?

CHEERS,
OLIVER

Actually, you'll be surprised. I once made a single boot at college for a project in Calgary Leather and we calculated that the leather for that single boot (not a pair) was almost £200, it took 5 square feet of leather. Taking into account my time and other otherheads I would have broken even at £1000 for a pair of boots if I'd been making them commercially, and that's without any serious profit..

However, it is true to say that by and large they don't charge what the shoes are worth, they charge what they can get.
