>> Hey, since there is a lot of discussion about the situation surrounding LSB, why doesn't someone living in the London area drop by the store and find out first hand what's going on? <<

I already used the telephone to find that out. The answer, from the owner, was posted above.

We have a family business that may be even smaller then LSB. 5 employee's in all, 4 servicemen.. my dad, my brother, myself, and one new guy (3 years). even though my dad's at the point of retirement, and has slowed down quite a bit he is still very vital since his 40 years of experience is invaluable when it comes to identifying new problems.

I'm the younger brother, but I have 15 years of experience, and I still have alot to learn.

TLSB name will fall apart if the craftsmen are not behind it. The new owners may have the passion, but might take years to get the skill back up to the level people have expected. Unfortunatly in our world we look for the best value for our money. So we give rise to wal-mart, and Devious, while reducing the market for those who still craft hand-made custom boots.

Oh well
Jim

Jo says that the son (Spiros) is looking for either:
1. Someone to Buy the Little Shoe Box
OR 2. Someone to run it instead.

Dr. Shoe says he could run it (Who better!).

Therefore, to me it lookes like PROBLEM SOLVED!

Cheers, Heelfan

For Dr Shoe ...

Are you serious? I have absolutely no shoe-making experience so can't offer that skill ... but of general business management, I have a lot of experience, and would be more than happy to put it to good use.

Well when I visted (around 1999 or 2000) they had more than one craftsman, although I can't say how much of the skill base is with the owner.

My experiance of LSB is that they are great at making shoes, but not so well organised as a business, so I think that experiance of runing a business is most important.

I think what is needed is a good business man - but someone with a passion for the type of shoes they make, rather than someone who might try to change what they do to become more mainstream for instance (although more fasionable styles with the same hight of heels would be good ).

When I first started having shoes and boots made by Little Shoe Box for me in the Seventies, they had about four of five makers working there. When a bunch of us members went there in an organised Heelmeet about a year ago, it still seemed to be about the same size and virtually unchanged. The only difference was that Gino (the father/proprietor) had stepped back a little to allow his son to start taking over the reins.

I do hope Dr. Shoe or one of you can take over the running!

Cheers, Heelfan

I don't think that Gino can do much I can't, I just lack his 50 odd years of experience. One of the first things I would do is to update some of the designs etc without taking it too far into the "mainstream".

For Heelson,

Perhaps we should talk more seriously. Maybe we could go down to LSB together to see what our options would be.
