My Mood: Rep Power: 7 | I haven't firmed up the order yet, still in the pricing phase and waiting a reply. I picked a tall shaft boot with a 3" heel. I haven't decided if a 3" heel is enough or just right..I don't want them to be too out of porportion.
I expect to hear back some time on Monday, I hope anyway. I'll let you know how it all goes...Jim |

My Mood: Rep Power: 70 | At some point a few months ago, didn't one of our members drive to the address that was listed for Western Ranch outside of Toronto somewhere and tell us that the place was, or almost was, deserted? Is this the same company that y'all are talking about? If it is, perhaps the same person could, on his next trip to the area, swing back by the place and see what's happening, now. Might be worth waiting to order until he makes another report on his findings.

Rep Power: 9 | Yes, well, I did drive by the address and report that the premises were empty, and the business sign was gone.
Unfortunately, I no longer live anywhere near the area (moved to the Vancouver area on the west coast).
However, I believe sme of the same people that ran Western Ranch before its demise are involved in the new startup, at a different location.
One of them is Nick, who I met on a previous visit to their store/factory. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 7 | It is Nick and Peter that I am dealing with. So far no money has exchanged hands yet. We are still talking by phone and E mailing back and forth. The address is in Ajax, Ontario. I'll ask about the business and if it's in the same or different location when I next talk to them Monday.
I'll let you know what I find...Jim |

Rep Power: 5 | There are a BUNCH of custom bootmakers all over the U.S.
It's sometimes helpful to deal with a local company.
Here's a list of some of them: http://www.dimlights.com/boots/custom/made4u.htm
The El Paso, Texas area has several with good reputations. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 7 | Epi Cene,
Thanks I'll give them a look as I haven't confirmed my order yet. There aren't any bootmakers close to me and so far dealing with Nick has been fine..The pricing seems to be in order with other bootmakers and I hope these work out and fit properly. Thanks again...Jim |

Xa | Be thankful you were able to recoup some of your losses through resale rather than throwing them out or donating to charity. Did you sell them at an auction site like eBay?

(Just a thought) | I suspect you are referring to me. Here is the thread link that relates what transpired. western ranch Quote: |

I'll let you know what I find...Jim | So you say they moved to Ajax? That's about 20 miles east of the location I visited a few months ago (in eastern Toronto). www.yahoo.ca business finder indicates there is a Western Ranch at:
487 Westney S,
Ajax, ON L1S6W7
(905) 428-1787
When I return to Toronto before Christmas, I will check out this new location. Although you can visit their web site at http://www.westernranchboots.net/index.htm and obtain information about them including their email address, please post here what you would like me to do when I visit them. Just a thought ..... I might be able to post a photograph of their new location here.

Rep Power: 9 | I can't recall exactly now, but the address at 487 Westney Road in Ajax sounds very suspiciously like their old address before they disappeared. |
