most shoes have a metal shank that is the structure of the shoe. It is usually sandwiched between a top insole, and the sole. The better the shoe, the better the construction. Some of the less expensive shoes cheapen this process and try to get by with just gluing and staples, instead of nails and better fabrication.
So what I meant by the shoe being twisted, it may because the shoe is weak to begin with. Sometimes if you can twist the shoe it helps, but you have to know what you are doing.
But always remember if you have a 5 or 6 inch heel and the shoe isn't a platform, there is going to be some stress on the heel and shank.
