Default speed laces or zipper

So I got this new pair of boots. They're not high heels but... well we have to have some flats. Well the problem is that they're knee high, 30 eyelet boots but no speed laces or zipper to allow for easy entry and exit. I have to unlace them about halfway down to get my foot out and it takes about 5 minutes per boot to put them on!

Does anyone know of a way to retrofit a zipper down the inside or add speedlaces to the eyelets?

That should be doable. Any truly professional cobbler should be able to put zippers in the sides. But I would be sure to ask him if he's ever done that before? For something as tricky as that job, it never hurts to get some references. I wouldn't give the job to someone who hasn't done it at least once before.
