Well, I'm home. Me and Mrs HeelD finally managed to get to the Miller at about 4:30 - fashionably late I might add! It was great to meet old faces as well as new ones. The meal at EV was good - it was a very nice restaurant with a great atmosphere. One we may visit again in the future.

Sorry to all those we missed during the day. All in all a nice evening and conversation over dinner.

I managed a little better, arrived at 2.30pm ...


Sat Nav never takes into account Saturday traffic, so as with the Thursday night meal the journey took longer than expected. The Sat Nav also stopped me a street away from the venue, luckily I'd taken a map so was able to work out where to go ......

Got parked in the NCP next door. Nice and close (20 yards as the crow flies, 50-60 yards from car to venue.) Boots on, and walked out of the car park. Out in to street in broad daylight. Not my first time in public, but my first time in daylight and in public. No probs, only 50/60 yards .... But out into a fairly active street, especially given its 'out of the way' position.

All went well until I got to the front door. It was locked, and I was stuck out in a street in broad daylight wearing patent boots with 4 1/2" heels .... At the time, my heart-rate was raised, but on reflection, I don't remember one single person noticing me.

Got pointed at the side entrance by someone inside, and seconds later I was in!


Straight up to the bar for my diet-coke, and straight into my first conversation. 3 people saying 'hello and welcome', as they left. Seems my (usual) late arrival had me missing quite a few people, who being from overseas (rightly) had left with touring duties to complete.

Seconds later, Dr Shoe arrived having been out to help the Oxford Street branch of Aldo reduce their boot stock. I didn't see all 3 pairs, but the two I did see had very attractive, and wearable heels. I was dead jealous. If I had arrived earlier, perhaps I could of helped too.

There were still 20 or so people there, and I think I talked to them all. I had longer conversations with one or two, but the general theme was the same. EVERYONE enjoys these meetings of like-minded people, and wouldn't mind more of them. Obviously not an option for those travelling from abroad, but there was definite interest for more London/Home Counties meets. [Watch this space?]

The buffect laid on was very good, but all the meals out at restaurants told a story, sadly much of the food was left. The venue staff were not only helpful and interested, but participated too. The HHplace.org "staff" photographer was able to take several photo's (as did many there) of an attractive lady member of the bar staff, while wearing some 6" heels*. The shoes were too large for her (size 5 in size 7 1/2 courts/pumps) but she gave it go. She also tried on some thigh boots, which were also photographed. [Both pairs care of Dr Shoe (Sales) Inc.]

*Editors note. The stiletto courts looked so nice I tried them on. They fitted, and felt nice when walking, so I bought them. Bargain. And getting worn while I write.

Time passed very quickly, and soon we all had to leave.

Most of those still around went off for a meal, probably before going onto the Torture Garden. I'd absented myself from a family get together, so had to go home anyway.

To those with experience, you will know the best way to make your feet hurt, is to stand still in heels. I'd been standing fairly motionless for almost 3 hours by the time I'd left. I (purposely) hadn't take any flats with me, being determined to make sure I took the short walk back to the car in heels. I wasn't sure the balls of my feet were going to accomodate an elegant stride, but I had to leave. So ......

I left the Miller and walked out into the street. It was dusk, but there were people walking around. I walked further into the street and around the corner to the car park. Found my parking ticket, and moved toward (quite noisily) the payment machine. At the machine next to the one I wanted to use, were a middle aged couple, who were obviously having some grief paying their [£16] fee. I clip-clopped right up next to them, expecting to quickly pay some money and get on my way. The machine in front of me was having none of it! After we both tried to contact help (via a button on the machine - which didn't arrive) we swapped machines. Oddly, both machines then worked, mine being quicker (Fast-Freddy, see.) I left, again clip-clopping away into the bowels of the car park. [Lovely echo of heels all around.]

I had time to get into my car and put some trainers on (to drive), before the couple walked past. Q: Do you think they were talking about the man wearing heels, or the payment machine? A: Payment machine. They HAD to have known I had heels on. I must have been around them clip-clopping about for 4 or so minutes, and we even spoke to each other (so they weren't deaf).

What did this tell me? They just weren't bothered......


Once again, a very enjoyable experience, amongst very friendly people.



To those who read these posts and wonder if they might attend a meet, think about it with my last comment in mind. Why not attend in normal 'street' attire, and see what it's like? I'm told there are mini-meets from time to time, and I'm fairly confident there's going to be a small gathering in April, possibly in Watford or another North London location. I'm already looking forward to another get together of like-minded people who like looking at, and wearing, high heels.

I was able to take a few pics and 2 videos of the young bar lady. She does know about this and will be sending her the pics and videos via email. I also tried to wear those heels but were to small but did buy 2 other pairs of black heels after trying them on.

It was a pretty good do at the Miller in the end. I think about 30 people turned up but we had food layed out for about 50 so it seemed, so there was lots left.

We had two computers running, one with the HH Street Fashions slide show, another with a slide show of some The Designer's Collection. There was also a heel flea market with lots of pairs to try on or buy as well as all the usual great conversation and beer, so there was loads to do.

Nice to meet up with everyone again. Thanks to Craig and the rest of the guys for doing all the organisation. Also thanks to Scott who was not feeling to well and sold me his ticket for TG. I hope you are feeling better soon Scott!

Another terrific Meet and it was terrific to meet so many members. Thank you Kneehighs for all the great organizing, the Meet went off without a hitch. Look forward to helping you, Dr Shoe and Admirer5577 set up the 4th Annual Meet in 2009! Cathy would also like to join the orgainzing group.

Cool. I didn't know if you were going to attend another meet. I think Heelfan is going to organize as well.

I need to cool off a bit to see if I have the energy to organize another one of these.

If I can couple the time at The Miller with London Fashion Week, then most likely it will be a go.

World Heel Meet 2009: London, Saturday Feb. 28th 2009

Ah, my significant other and I went to the miller at noon.
Because we didn't know if we would make it, we didn't confirm our arrival. Anyway, we just wanted to see other wearers by curiosity so had a peek through the window. Unfortunatly, we felt quite uncomfortable and left.
Why didn't you open the terrasse ? It was a nice day (cold, I know but bright).
Oh well maybe next time.

Its a shame you came so far and didnt make it the last few feet. there was plenty of food left to eat.

My testimonial and recollections of the 2008 HeelMeet:-

I enjoyed the whole thing and thought that it all went extremely well.
From the details posted beforehand, I expected there was to be a tightly-run programme of events throughout the day.
That wasn't the case and it was more of a free-form affair with the usual drinking, circulating & socialising. Absolutely fine by me though, as that's what I was there for.

That said, I did try on a few of Dr Shoe's 'bring & buy stall' items. A couple of pairs fit me pretty good but they were too fetishistic for me to consider making an offer on them.

I enjoyed all the meeting & chatting with new members and the 'heelmeet virgins' that attended, as well as saying hello to some long time members that I hadn't had the pleasure of meeting before.

I chickened out of the group photos. Again. Next time I shall be more prepared and will bring a balaclava with me (or a cap & sunglasses at least).

There was some excitement on Bladerunners' departure –
I accompanied him to the adjacent NCP carpark for a quick viewing of some surplus-to-requirements footwear in his car. Both of us strolled out of the Miller in our highly visible 4" stiletto heeled boots (mine £16 from Schuh; his £130+ from Vivienne Westwood!).
Just as we turned the first corner, a posse of approx. 10 hoodies suddenly appeared heading directly towards us.
"Shall we leave it?" says Bladerunner. "Nah, let's just go for it!" says I.
This, BTW, was my first ever full-daylight, public place, street-heeling experience!
We sauntered past the posse. One of their number took a sideways glance at our footwear. Nothing else happened though. Kind of disappointing in a way!

On my way back from the carpark, I had to walk by a couple of other people. No idea whether they noticed anything unusual as I click-click-clicked past them both. Nothing was said and the police weren't called out to investigate so no drama at all really.

Following an enjoyable afternoon drinking, snacking, swapping experiences and finding common ground with the other guys, events were enlivened by the arrival of two Miller bar girls. Their reactions to a pub full of stiletto heel wearing guys were totally cool. One girl even tried on a few of Dr Shoes’ sale items and posed for photos in them.

As the day drew to a close, the usual dilemma arose – whether to join up with those heading for an evening meal or to hit the shops on Oxford Street. I chose the latter as I still feel that the shoe shopping trip forms an essential element of a heelmeet. I also thought I’d probably end up staying out long past my curfew time if I went somewhere for more sitting, talking & drinking.

Shakedown & I headed for the tube and hit the Oxford Street crowds for a quick look around. This resulted in another first for me - - - 7:00pm shopping in and around the Oxford Street department stores whilst wearing 4" stiletto boots.
I really enjoyed it, particularly the pavement excursions.
Were there any reactions to this bizarre & unusual sight? Well actually, I only spotted two:-
1. A security man in Debenhams who’s eyes alighted on, and remained glued to, my footwear as I walked past him.
His face was absolutely blank; it was as though he was at a complete loss in processing the visual information presented to him.
2. Three teenage girls outside Selfridges who followed closely behind us, nudging & whispering to each other. As we slowed down (we'd decided to go back in the opposite direction), they passed by and one of them cast a curious look back in my direction. I caught her eye and smiled at her and she looked away quickly as though embarrassed about something!

I also tried on some cheap plastic knee boots in an asian-owned discount clothing store.
I had a sales chap fetch them in my size. When he re-appeared, I asked "have you got anywhere I can try them on".
He said follow me, led me back upstairs and pointed to a footstool next to the shop entrance! I'm getting braver but I've not reached that level yet matey!

So, despite my loud declaration during the heelmeet to (a) stop buying cheap plastic stuff and (b) stop buying knee boots, I went straight ahead and bought them for £15. D'oh!

Anyway, here’s looking forward to the 2009 Heel-Meet and hopefully a good many mini-meets before that one.

We have many more testimonials to be written about the heel meet, but you can already see that in the short span of just one page, we have 2 NEW BREAKTHROUGHS.

These meets are a good thing, as long as they don't become the sole mechanism that drives one to street heel, they are a powerful tool for overcoming fear.
