My Mood: Rep Power: 3 | Why don't they wear them?! Gotta rant here. I am PO'd when women have the ability to wear great heels and do not choose to do so. Here are a few reasons why it irks me.
1. They are beautiful. I understand the ,eye of the beholder' argument but if they were so overwhelmingly considered not attractive them the designers and manufacturers would not continue to make them.
2. The argument that they hurt does not hold water with me. I have practised, experiented, etc. for long periods of time and I get as much discomfort from my business dress shoes as I do from heels. (4-5")
3. Hard to walk in? Guess I was just lucky and they made sense to me. Never had a problem and my wife admits I do it better than most.
4. Biggest issue is that there are so many styles, patterns, colors etc. that kick a** and women will continue to wear just b**t ugly shoes. Perhaps if they were in our shoes (I know, bad joke) and had only a very limited size and style selection then they would appreciate it more.
Now, one other thing. Women seem to overlook the power of great shoes. I was in the airport the other day and in the chaos of checking in/security etc, I was looking downward and out of my peripheral vision I saw a great pair of black strappy high heeled sandals. The young lady was (in the conventional sense) of average looks IMO but her great heels, well pedicured toes/feet and the good sense to show them off, really caught my eye. Brava, young lady!!! Being married and in a hurry I did not get the chance to meet her but in my single days I would have definately had to buy her a drink.
Yea, I know, its what's on the inside that counts that when the outside is totally hot then......... ;) |

Hello heeltoe-at150 -
The next time you see a nice pair of heels on a woman, please take just a moment to compliment her......Might just make a difference one day in the percentage of women wearing heels..It sure makes me smile.
I don't think your wife would mind!
Katherine

that are fun, stylish, and comfortable in all likelihood - yet they'd get shunned for something like this: http://www.payless.com/Images/beauty/052723_beauty.gif

My Mood: Rep Power: 3 | Re: Why don't they wear them?! Dr. Shoe - Practicality? Really???
Mrs. Heels - Yep, my wife would not mind. I'll have to start doing that.
Daniel - You have a point. However, its not really about the shoes. It's the attitude. I think a lot of women just do not care about looking great. I can hear it now, the next post, "Does a women have to in heels to look great?" No, of course not but they sure are a heck of a catalyst! :)

Rep Power: 11 | Re: Why don't they wear them?! as much as I respect personal choices and don't want to impose on anyone.. there are days when I get selfish in thought and wish I could see more heel wearing women around me.. but then.. i snap out of it and realize I've not gotten out enough :D
but seriously... i think in my case.. it's more a selfish thought that I have periodically.. whereas in reality.. each person has a reason behind the choices they make.. beit that they're aware of it or not. and many don't find heels to fit into what they're doing at the moment they're beeing viewed by you.
if T.V is to be a 'judge' it would appear that women wear heels a whole lot less than they did 40 years ago. I wasn't around then.. so I don't know how true that can be. I just know that in my lifetime.. the odds of seeing a woman in 'killer heels' in the street appears to have diminished.
as one gal once told me.. if she was getting driven around and didn't have so much standing and walking to do.. she wouldn't mind being in super tall heels all day.. but then she'd have the money for it like a celeb does. but until then.. her flats are her best friend until she marries a rich fella.
i've long learned to keep my selfish thought to myself (no bearing on anyone here in anyway shape or form either!!!!)

Rep Power: 27 | Re: Why don't they wear them?! It depends on your surroundings. I see lots of women at work wearing very nice heels, but then they all work at desks.
Heeltoe: You say you have practiced / experimented, but have you actually been out for the night in a pair of heels? It's a world away from wearing them at home, and much as I enjoy going out in mine I can see why some women don't wear them, and those that do don't wear them all the time.

My Mood: Rep Power: 64 | Re: Why don't they wear them?! It is true to say that 40 years ago women wore heels ALL the time, even when doinmg housework- at least they did on the television. Mind you one of my earliest memories is watching my mother wearing 4" heels to go to the supermarket.
