Doing some geneology research and it turns out that my 10thGGP was born in Downton, England in 1515. His GGson (Born 1610, also in Downton) emigrated to Massachusetts.

Any of you brits have a map of this in relation to the rest of the island? I've tried google and can't find anything!

Edit: Incidentally, for those who care the family name is 'Eastman.'

Actually there are 4 places called Downton.

2 in Devon, one near Plymouth, the other near Dartmouth
1 in Hampshire near the Isle of Wight
1 in Wiltshire near Salisbury

Try http://www.streetmap.co.uk

Is that map available on the net, or is it in CD form? They may have a simular one for Australia.

*ACK* lol. I'll have to find out. I'm going to guess that its the closest one to the port at Southampton.

He sailed over in 1638 and left from Southampton... *heads off to Google*

you can get info via streetmaps on the net, but I have Autoroute 2001 on CD.

Anagram, the closest one to Southampton would be the Isle of Wight one.
