ShyGuy - sorry I assumed you were from the good old US of A. Still, there's a good side: whilst US citizens can stand to be presidents, UK citizens are best placed to come to our Heel-Meets. Why not come to this coming Saturday's Meet (29th Nov) at Birmingham? For full details see under "Real Life Meetings".

I can buy you a frothing flagon of something for your having such excellently healthy views on religious issues etc. A man after my own heart if ever there was one!

Cheerfully yours, Heelfan

I was planning to remain so restrained as not to post at all but following JeffM's note and those following, I had to add this humurous link.
It is meant to be light hearted for those of religious disposition, but the underlying sentiment is indeed serious...

Yes, that seems a great portrayal of God! My concern is though, that when God appeared to mankind in various manifestations (Mohammed, Jesus, Buddha vetc. etc.), each of which did their best to lead mankind into kind and excellent ways, I think they would all turn in their graves (with much gnashing of teeth and tearing of their hair) if they were to return now and see all the pomposity, fueding, wars, ethnic cleansings and so on that have all gone on in the name of religion(s)!

Cheerfully yours, Heelfan

A good find, hits the nail right on the head Ionic.
2 rather good comedy sketches hit me about religion, 1 is Rowan Atkinson playing the devil himself, and sending the Christians down cos the Jews were right .
http://www.maths.tcd.ie/~afarrell/things/Hell.html and the other is by Emo Phillips and is a long winded way of showing the hypocrisy in religion for what it is. http://cmgm.stanford.edu/~lkozar/EmoPhillips.html

It's strange how God only gave us a few instructions on some tablets of stone so long ago, the true facts are blurred in the mists of time. And he's never bothered to give us an update either, when the world is better placed to spread the word via communications, and indeed better placed to destroy itself. Thus it would seem his word would be not only more effective now, but also needed far more.

It's also strange how the primary mechanism we rely upon to carry his teachings from generation to generation is to stuff it into children when they're too young to think for themselves.

All great imponderables, but then he moves in "mysterious ways", so that explains it all, doesn't it, or do you know better?

Try this one
God gave mankind the intelligence to create the internet so that His word could be better delivered to the masses.
Why?
Because He is too damned busy keeping order in the universe.
