Default "...not practical"

The title says it all. That's it. You've guessed it. I bought a new Smart car and the most common reaction I got was: "It's not practical". And you thought I was talking about high heels. Yeah, sure, that's also the reaction you get from men and women alike about high heels. And skirts too. But a car? Have people not heard of doing something for fun? What is it about being practical that's so appealing? What do practical people do for fun? I daren't think about it!

I have to agree though, that it is definitely not a practical car. But that doesn't matter to me, as my reason for buying it was it's so much fun to drive.

It depends on what you call practical. If you live in london it would be a very practical car to own.

No....an impractical car is the 1971 Pontiac GTO Judge that I have in my garage. It gets six, I mean 6 miles to the gallon, its tires are $300 each, and it gets driven maybe once a month. When I fire it up, sea levels rise 3 inches in Florida. But there is a lot to be said about a car clocked at 160 MPH!

well now, not practical!? in MY book that would be trying to walking all down the the hills from my house just to get to the bus stop in my heels, maybe breaking my ankle along the way! (I dont have a car @ the present time nor a licsense to drive one) I either get a lift down to where I'm going, or I simply wear my heels around the house (fun to do anyways)

The list of other "impractical" comments goes on.

But none of these comments are an issue for me. I bought it because it's fun to drive. Economy, a/c, leather heated seats, 84 bhp turbo charged engine, anti-theft alarm, alloys, CD player with sub-woofer, electric windows and mirrors, panoramic roof, speed sensitive wipers, ESP, tiptronic gearbox with soft-touch, hill assist, ABS, etc were all bonuses. He, he! Ok. A lot of that I asked for as optional extras.

As for heels: everything depends on the circumstances. Wearing smart clothes and stillettos when repairing some mechanical stuff ain't practical at all, but wearing the same outfit to a party / theatre / concert etc. will probably be a good idea. The same for cars: a small one can be very practical in a city, but totally useless in a rough terrain.

Lightbulb Re: "...not practical"

I've seen only 2 SMART's on road so far, a Conv. driven by rather muscular and tan dude and Coupe done up as a rolling business billboard. If you're looking for VERY BASIC Transportation, it aint too bad a looker.
