My Mood: Rep Power: 3 | Big guys in heels. I am a big guy. A linebacker type (American Football). My wife says my calves, ankles, feet and toes are to 'die for'. We are starting my heeling process (a mild pun) together and it has been a blast. Any suggestions about a shoe type/style? We are partial to me in 4's or 5's.
BTW, I read a comment that a big guy in heels is like a marshmallow on top of an aspirin. OUCH!!! |

Rep Power: 22 | Oh where to start.
Okay your a big guy and you want to wear heels in public and keep everything in proportion. The secret here is to dress slim with well fitting clothes. If you can't however create the illusion that you're slim, it may be best to stay away from thin heels like stilettos and stick with chunkier heels.
When all is said in done, YOU have to like what you see in a full length mirror in order for the rest of the world to accept it.

My Mood: Rep Power: 12 | A good way to start is take some photos of yourself - even more revealing than a full length mirror. Your Mrs. likes your legs - at least some of them. I'd go for boots - but that's just my opinion. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 0 | Go for the more masculine look. I've got a pair of Predictions block-heeled boots with 2.5" heels that would easily support a 300-lb man. Harley-Davidson makes a great line, but it's only available to size W11 and below (stupid HD marketers...) |

My Mood: Rep Power: 13 | If you're a linebacker, I'm a really tall flanker (6'4" 200 lbs) :D We could wear jerseys, jeans, and heels :drinking:
just messin. But yes, I'd suggest staying away from skinny heels in favor of broader ones. Now if you're planning on actually showing off your feet (ie, sandals), wedges would work best, since not many sandals come on a true thick heel.

Rep Power: 22 | Can I assume that your size 12 is USmens sizing? If it is it converts approximately to a US womens 14. If it is needed to fit a mens medium width try a womens 15 and for wide width a womens 16 may even be neccessary. It won't be easy in most mainstream designs, as current mainstream sizing seems to only go up to womens 12. Wish I could help, but I haven't been down that road where I need sizes that large as I wear a women's 11 myself.

For what it is worth.
I am 6' tall, weight varies from 225 to 265. I am trying... but anyway.
I always thought I was a size 12 (US womens), but I find a lot of boots seem to run bigger. I wear mostly boots Size 11, with 3.75 to 4.5 inch heels. Mostly chunky or stacked. I wear them often and all over the place. My wife loves me in them. I wear boot cut or slightly flared dress pants or jeans, again womens.
Good or bad, I have never recieved a comment from anyone. maybe us big guys are intimidating to some.
My Point is.... Size is not really that important.
Just wear what you think you look good in, and keep a positve attitude.

My Mood: Rep Power: 23 | I'm in agreement with what has been said. You have to be comfortable with the image you present before going out. Chunk and stacked heels work well, but it just depends on what outfit you are going to wear them with.
It's the overall image that makes the biggest impact. Have fun with it!

Shoedini: http://www.shoedini.com is quite good, too, as are:
Shoebuy: http://www.shoebuy.com and Shoemall: http://www.shoemall.com
All three are pretty much the only mainstream, non-FMP sources for heels of all kinds, including wedges. (FM pumps is a derogative term for shiny patent leather spike-heel shoes and boots which hurt like the blazes... - double connotation...)
By the way, if you visit Brylane ( http://www.brylane.com) and click on either Lane Bryant or Roamans, they have a few wedges in size 12, too. You can also visit Amazon ( http://www.amazon.com) and do size and type searches, which reveal a surprising number of wedges in your size.
Good luck! |
