TBG: Sounds like you had a most interesting adventure. Your outing in your favorite outfits certainly made for engrossing reading. What I found intriguing was how you were able to go here and there in your boots and a skirt without causing a scene, but then, that sort of thing rarely if ever happens anyway. Ninety-nine percent of people one encounters have manners and other than a look here and a double take there wouldn't think of raising a stink. As for your outfits, not bad, not bad at all, you know how to put yourself together, and as long as you look your best, you won't cause a ruckus. In any event, it appears you're growing more comfortable in your outings, and that's definitely a good thing. I for one hope to read more of your exploits.

After class I was very tired and I still had a two hour drive ahead of me so I just kept on my blue leather boots with 2” block heels and drove back home. On the way I stopped at my favorite thrift emporium just to see what was there. I did go in wearing my blue boots over my jeans rather than under, as I had worn them in class.

Like I said I was really tired and didn’t feel like staying very long, but I saw a pair of boots way back on a shelf that looked kind of nice. I pulled them out and found they were black leather with a square toe, a 2” large block heel, and a side zipper. The top of the shaft is 18” from the ground. Then I saw they were size 12W and on sale for $1.50 (one dollar and fifty cents). I didn’t even bother trying them on because I was sure I could wear them.

When I got them home I found they were Italian with a leather lining. These are the best made pair of boots I own and are very comfortable. What a great homecoming present.

I was frankly surprised at the reactions I didn’t get. In the mall there were a few snickers but most folks really seemed to not care how I was dressed and they were willing to give me my space as long as I didn’t intrude on theirs. Like the lady in the bookstore said when I asked her if the way I was dressed was too much, “You can dress how you like.”

In the past I have been concerned that the Thighbootguy persona was taking over and I pulled back from wearing boots, heels, ... On this trip, however, I really didn’t feel any of that. I was just dressing as I liked and going out and enjoying myself. I really felt like I was in control of what I was doing. (Unless you have experienced loosing control of yourself, you may not appreciate how important that last statement is.) I was just taking advantage of the situation of being away from home and in a tolerant community. It really was a great trip and I will remember it for a long time.

For 1 Euro ~ $1.41 I would buy almost everything. I were glad to find a 2-kg-sack of potatoes for "only" 1 Euro. The world has become completely crazy ...

PS One pair of high heels instead of my daily meal? I'm not Charly Chaplin. Shoe soles are a poor nourishment especially if they are made from PVC

I must have been really tired when got back to the hotel because I did write up a post about my outing but it looks like I failed to send it.

After dinner on my last night I decided to push things as far as I wanted to so I pulled on a short denim skirt, a black stretchy blouse, blue thigh boots with 5” stilettos, and a black jacket and headed for a large mall that was in the area.

When I walked in the mall, a couple of forks did notice and I thought twice about doing this but I kept on going and really relaxed. That made all the difference because I was now out in public and just enjoying being there.

I walked around both levels of the mall which took about an hour. I stopped in each shoe store that had boots on display including Bakers and Payless. Bakers was busy but I did ask one of the clerks how large they carried an over the knee boot. Unfortunately she said they only had them up to a 10 but she offered that they had larger sizes available on the web.

I went into Macys and looked around the shoe department for a while which was a lot of fun. All this time no one had said anything or even paid much attention but as I walked into Macys, a lady stopped and turned around and looked a second time and said, “Those are really cool boots”. I thanked her and said they were a lot of fun, we exchanged smiles.

In the mall there were vendors in small booths selling all sorts of stuff. One guy asked me if I used makeup (that’s what he was selling). I told him I didn’t because I didn’t do it well enough. I don’t think he ask too many other guys that question. Another gal was selling Dead Sea salt as a cleansing agent and had me try it by washing my hands with the stuff. The sales pitch was about how soft it left the skin. There were two other gals working at the same booth and I got the impression they didn’t normally sell to guys either.

After about an hour, I had gotten a few double takes, one gal ran out of a store where she was working to be sure of what she was seeing, there were a couple of whistles, but there were also a lot of friendly smiles. Most folks were willing to give me my space if I didn’t intrude into theirs. I really had a great time.

I headed back out to the car and decided to do something I have always wanted to do. I wanted a beer.

I do still pay attention to where I’m going and I had two choices, both were restaurant bars. One played country/western music and the other played Italian opera. I went with the opera. I headed back to Marconi’s Grill and walked into the bar wearing a skirt and thigh boots and sat down at the bar and ordered a beer. None of the other patrons paid any attention. I was there for about 20 minutes then paid my tab and headed back to the hotel to hit the books.

Those girls selling the Dead Sea salt try to sell to anyone. I speak from experience.

same for me too BobHH, you have to figure that they are stuck all day long in those kiosks (I hope I spelled that right)-its like the ones who try to sell you all the latest cell phone plans they are are in all malls, for sure!

TBG: You're certainly a braver man than I, my friend. I don't know if I would've had the nerve to wear a short skirt and your beloved thigh high boots in a mall. If I ever get the courage to try that, I'll certainly do my best to follow your example. More power to you. As for the people in the kiosks, yeah, they'll try to sell you just about anything: wireless phone plans, Dead Sea salt, you name it. But hey, it's all about capitalism. Heh!

Yup, i have been hit by the Dead Sea salt people as well. Maybe seeing the heels primes them for a sale :-)
