Maybe its just one of the things about getting older, but I have shrunk almost an inch and a half. Wearing heels is one way I can still be "myself". On two or three ocasions I have, for one reason or another, not worn heels. However, some of the women I know did, and they towered over me. Do you know they took off their shoes so as to come down to my level! I even heard the off hand comment that I looked like I was standing in a hole. So watch out guys, once you start wearing these things you may not be able to stop.

One thing you have to watch when getting older is posture. Standing up straight - straight back, shoulders back, gut in, and neck up, not out or down - makes a couple of inches difference in height. Many older people tend to slump or sag unconsciously, which makes them shorter. I have really noticed this, as I am dancing and have been given lessons in posture and stature and am more aware of other people's posture and height.
