My Mood: Rep Power: 6 | Re: where to heel in London I've just been there as a tourist too but what I can tell you're safe just about everywhere you'd normally go. Dark alleys in industrial areas should probably be avoided, but they should be avoided whether you're in heels or not.
One area I like a lot is camden, don't miss that.
I am sure you'll get more info from some Londoner like DrShoe. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 64 | Re: where to heel in London Camden is very cool for heel wearing and you can try them on without a problem too. The same goes for Oxford Street and Knightsbridge/kensington as well.
Let us know when you're coming and I will be happy to give you a guided tour...

Brick Lane is essentially an Asian area with many (mostly Bangladeshi) curry houses of varying quality and ethnic groceries and other shops. Mildly interesting and peaceful enough but not particularly exciting. A white face, although not made unwelcome, will sometimes be the object of curiosity and I am sure that heels would attract some further attention. And the more conservative types venturing from their City offices nearby might have a view, too.
If you want to explore north or east of the City, I think that Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, Whitechapel and Dalston would be more fun and better for street-heeling. They all have a wide mix of residents and workers, and street markets and 'arty' areas where heelers might fit in nicely. |

Actually Brick Lane isn't as bad as it was, it's now full of vintage shops where they charge a fortune for seciondhand clothes... this does bring down the fashionistas though...

But, although I don't now go there very often (or have for some time), my impression is of fairly cosmopolitan and tolerant locals, at least in the daytime. As, Doc, with your more immediate local knowledge, you think otherwise, I for one respect your warning. |
