My Mood: Rep Power: 1 | Final forum prune / Profile rebuilds Dear All
This is to let you all know that some time soon, I shall be carrying out a rebuild fo all user profiles / reputation points / thread posts.
This is essential to restore the balance of user reputations which were not ported across from the old forum.
I wont be doing this for a few weeks yet and when I do, I shall post notification probably a day in advance and the forum may be unviewable for about 10 minutes while the database is going nuts rebuilding all the profiles.
Also, all spam users will finally be deleted by then too. So what exactly will happen once this is done? Avatars....
All avatars will be rebuilt to bring them in line with the required format of 100px wide x 150px tall maximum. Signatures.... All signatures will be reduced to the new limit of 1 line of text only.
Also, there is now a restriction on new members to prevent them posting links in signatures unless they have made at least 5 posts which prevents users signing up just for the sake of spam so this update will ensure this starts working properly. Post counts....
All post counts will be re-calculated based completely on the number of posts that you have in the database the moment it starts. So, all posts that have been deleted will no longer count towards your post count. User reputations....
All user reputations (Currently showing as 0 or less than 10) will be recalculated based on your post counts once these have been rebuilt.
If you post bad post's in future that do not fall within the forum posting guidelines then users can report your post's using the little triangle which will alert all moderators to your post who then may choose to impose an infraction penalty on you or a warning for the reported offence.
Infractions can result in loss of reputation, warnings do not but were not out to penalise everybody and will endeavour to avoid issuing a penalty where at all possible. (Its needs to be really extreme for any of us to issue an infraction) User titles....
Currently the forum is running with the default user titles as "out of the box" but this will also be upgraded to make it somewhat fairer.
Currently there are only 3 member titles: Junior Member Member Senior Member These all appear under your names in every post and once consulted with everybody, I think it would be good to spice these up a little and add some more so that everybody doesnt get labbeled as "senior member" too quickly, then gets stuck with that for life. Member promotions / ranks....
The user rank/promotion system cannot be switched on without any of the above works being carried out first but once this is done, I would like to re-introduce the user rank/promotions if users would like that?
This works in the same way the previous forum did with little shoes but we can use pretty much anything we like from little images (Not great as they slow down page loading times) to changes of user name colours, or extra titles to your name etc... its extremely flexible but cannot be used yet due to the innacurate info that need re-syncronising.
This update is essential in order to ensure that all the information maintained here is accurate, and usable for all members.
Any questions about this update then please do PM me or drop me an email.
Thanks |

My Mood: Rep Power: 0 | Re: Final forum prune / Profile rebuilds Members:
Given one (DawnHH) is approaching 7,000 posts, I think we should award as follows, on a logarithmic scale:.
HOWEVER - I need those with a knowledge of workmanship/craftsmanship to add their two cents and turn this into a truly medevil experience with respect to titles, crafstmanship, etc. I think we could reasonably expand this to kilts, as well, if presented right.
As Number 5 said, "Need input!" Because I haven't a clue (being a Yank) as to the various levels of apprentiship, craftsman, master craftsman, etc.) Need input!
Fill in the blanks with real expressionsions of English craftsmanship, please.

My Mood: Rep Power: 1 | Re: Final forum prune / Profile rebuilds Dear All
Just another reminder that the final user prune / profile rebuild / forum stats de-fluff will occur very soon...
Some of you may have noticed people "Reputation points" going up and down, especially my own as I am working on the reputation points system and have been for a while now...
Despite what these points currently say, they are all innacurate because the forum has not had all of its counters reset properly and values re-calculated based on the data imported from the last forum...
Reputation points are meant to be calculated from your first date of membership but at the moment they are all way off due to the "apparent" start of membership being the day the forum was converted which is out of whack and needs a slap upside its head.
Anyway, please dont be alarmed or worry if you see little things around the forum happening, its probably something I am working on....
Also, the forums online timer had to be removed as it stopped some of the moderators special pages from working properly..... sorry about that.. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 1 | Post counts re-built As part of the website user account pruning, all members forum post counts have now been recounted based on actual post's held in the database.
Some members may have seen drops, others an increase.
For 1 member, I have recovered over 500 posts from the database, restoring his account to what it used to be a VERY long time ago.
Also, the Maximum number of users online has now been reset as it was totally inacurate to start with so any figures you see there now are the correct numbers.
More news to come soon...
